Patrick "Sarge" Avon

Operated by Navy veteran, Patrick "Sarge" Avon, author and performance coach for over 25 years. His background in fitness and performance is diverse, to say the least. He holds many certifications and even created one for his other business, The Sergeant's Program. A Performance Enhancement Coach and Corrective Exercise Specialist, Sarge has a keen eye for muscle imbalances and how they hinder performance.

Josh Hosey

Josh Hosey earned his Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from Salisbury University.  He has also completed his CPT (Certified Personal Trainer) certification, as well as Mike Boyle's CFSC (Certified Functional Strength Coach) Level 1, and Joe DeFranco's CPPS (Certified Physical Preparation Specialist) - considered "the gold standard" for fitness professionals.  He has trained our athletes at Sarge Athletics for over a decade! Josh is also a varsity lacrosse coach at Urbana High School in Frederick County.​

Ari Mazziotta

Private Trainer

Ari Mazziotta holds certifications as a Corrective Exercise Specialist and Certified Personal Trainer from the National Academy of Sports Medicine. He began his athletic journey at the age of 5 when he began competing in gymnastics and martial arts. During his career he has earned medals in regional martial arts demonstrations as well as tumbling competitions. Ari played recreational racquetball, tennis, soccer, and baseball throughout his school years. In 2012, Ari obtained his Parkour Instructor certification from American Parkour and immediately developed Parkour Evolution for a local training facility. Ari devotes most of his free time to training and competing in powerlifting and strongman.​

Carl Tossah

Carl grew up in Clarksburg, Maryland and played football throughout high school. He attended Shepherd University in West Virginia earning his degree in Exercise Science, due to his curiosity of how the body works and his love for sports. Carl currently enjoys coaching football, snowboarding, and numerous other outdoor activities, as well as working as a Physical Therapy Assistant when he’s not here coaching our youth athletes.

Corinne Bennett
Events Manager

Meet Corinne, a fitness enthusiast with 15+ years of industry experience. Having managed an all-women's gym, led group fitness sessions, excelled as a personal trainer, and contributed to marketing efforts, Corinne is no stranger to the diverse facets of fitness. She is inspired by the transformative workouts at Sarge and the sense of community it fosters, believing in the power of fitness to bring out the best in individuals. With a passion for helping others achieve their wellness goals, Corinne is thrilled to bring her expertise and enthusiasm to the training facility.

Heidy Williamson

Semi-Private Training Coach

Heidy is a a certified personal trainer with a drive for helping others achieve their fitness goals. Raised in Montgomery County to later find her home here in Frederick. With over 3 years of experience in the industry, Heidy specializes in strength training, hypertrophy, and endurance conditioning. Her client base is mainly women. She believes is changing the name of the game for women with weights. Women are strong and she believes we should feel that power. Heidy’s upbeat personality and motivational coaching style have helped countless clients transform their bodies and improve their overall health and self confidence.

Outside of weight training she enjoys countless things with the number one being salsa dancing! Always down for traveling and a motorcycle ride.  ​

Bridgit is a certified personal trainer and group fitness instructor with over 35 years of experience in the DMV area. She specializes in mobility, posture, and functional strength with a strong emphasis on a lifelong holistic approach to health and wellness. ​

JC Philbin

With a degree in Exercise Science from Towson University, JC is a Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) and Speed & Agility Specialist (CSAS) by the National Sport Performance Association (NSPA). Last year JC was a full time Strength & ConditionIng Intern with The Ohio State Football Team. He also completed apprenticeships with the New York Yankees, San Diego Padres and Washington Nationals. JChas worked at three different athletic performance centers focused on speed, strength, and power development with youth, high school, college, and professional athletes.
